1940 - 2026
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Charlotte, his devoted partner and best friend. Together they built a life filled with love, friendship, travel, and treasured memories. Larry was the cherished father of Christine, Steven, and Beth, and the proud grandfather known affectionately as “Bump” to Jessica, Colleen, Tyler, Paige, Ethan, Jake, and Elise. He was also the loving great-grandfather of Evan, Hannah, and Joe. He leaves behind his sister Barbara, his brother David, and many other loved ones, including Tim, Ginger, Fred, Alex, and Joe.
Known to friends as “Hobbs” in his younger years, Larry loved sports and spent many happy seasons playing basketball in a men’s pickup league in Upton alongside his longtime friend Jack Grady. A true people person, he never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. His warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others helped him make friends wherever he went.
Larry was a lifelong sports fan and a devoted supporter of the New England Patriots, holding season tickets for many years. He also gave back to the community as a youth hockey coach, sharing his love of sports with the next generation.
In retirement, Larry and Charlotte enjoyed their years in the Outer Banks, where he found great happiness boating, spending time with friends, and embracing life to the fullest. He especially treasured evenings spent playing cards and listening to oldies music with dear friends Beverly and Jack Grady.
Larry will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, sense of humor, and love of family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, devotion, and a life well lived.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry’s life on Saturday, August 15th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Upton VFW, located at 15 Milford Street in Upton.
The gathering will be a casual opportunity to share stories, laughter, food, and memories in honor of a man who meant so much to so many.
