1987 - 2025
A lifelong Franklin resident, Laura graduated from Franklin High School in 2005, where she excelled both academically and athletically, serving as a captain of the gymnastics team. Her scholastic achievements earned her The Holy Cross Book Award, and she enrolled at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester in August 2005. At Holy Cross, Laura double-majored in Spanish and Psychology and proudly competed for the Crusaders in track & field, specializing in the hammer throw.
Professionally, Laura built a nearly two-decade career in web development and design, beginning with Getfused in South Boston and later joining CivicActions, where she took special pride in advancing website accessibility for people with disabilities. She was known as a dedicated teammate and a dependable problem-solver.
Curious and courageous, Laura was an intrepid traveler, embarking on solo journeys to the Galápagos Islands and Greece, and spending a year in Barcelona, Spain, where she put her Spanish fluency to joyful use. When at home, she cherished time with her three nieces and her ever-growing stack of books. As “Auntie,” she delighted in sharing stories, recommendations, and her lifelong love of reading with Sarah, Elizabeth, and Catherine.
In addition to her parents, Laura is survived by her sister Christine Flannery Higgins and her husband Matt Higgins of Williston, Vermont; her brothers Kenneth Flannery of Arlington, Virginia, and James Flannery and his partner Meg Premo of Brighton; and her father’s wife Lori Giordano Flannery.
