Joy L. Gaskill, 85, of Mendon
December 25, 1939 - September 26, 2025

Joy L. Gaskill, 85, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge. She was the wife of the late Carlton A. Gaskill, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.

Born on December 25, 1939, in Worcester, Joy was the daughter of the late L. Everett and Charlene (Taylor) Murch. She graduated from Mendon High School and went on to serve her hometown as a dispatcher for the Town of Mendon. Starting from her own home as she raised her young family and later from the police station, Joy worked in that role for more than 20 years before retiring in 2003.

Joy enjoyed country music, jigsaw puzzles, camping, Friday nights with family, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, she often filled the room with laughter.

She is survived by her three sons: Dean C. Gaskill and his companion Suzanne Schell of Uxbridge; Terry S. Gaskill and his wife Karen of Mendon; and Shawn M. Gaskill and his wife Christy of Douglas. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; her sister, Lorena Baldiga of Mendon; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Dale A. and Glenn L. Gaskill; her sister, Jewell Clarke; her brother, Lauren “Butch” Murch; and her companion, Daniel W. Bellefontaine.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Lydia Taft House for their friendship and compassion throughout the last year.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home in Milford, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Gaskill Family Cemetery on George Street in Mendon.

Memorial donations in Joy’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
