Born in Attleboro on November 5, 1945, he was the son of the late Edward and Ida (Leino) Meade. John was raised in Attleboro and Plainville and later lived in Walpole for many years before settling in Mendon in 1997.
A mechanical engineer by profession, John dedicated his career to innovation and service in the medical field. He worked for several surgical medical device companies and later founded his own businesses, specializing in the design and manufacturing of surgical devices that improved countless lives. His inventive spirit and commitment to excellence defined his professional journey.
A devout Christian, John lived his faith with humility and conviction. He was a faithful churchman and found great joy in preaching the gospel of Christ in the open air, sharing his deep love for the Lord with others.
John also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of E-4. His service earned him the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star in recognition of his dedication and courage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Phyllis, John is survived by his children: John Meade and his wife Annie of Kansas City, Missouri; Hannah Denietolis and her husband Bruce of Bellingham; Luke Meade and his wife Sara of Mendon; and Samuel Meade of Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by his brother Edward Meade of Weymouth and eleven cherished grandchildren: Charis, Maggie, Emma June, Peter, Grace, Joshua, Anthony-John, Luciana, Jack, Audrey, and Penelope.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Crossway Church, 282 Summer Street, Franklin. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to Impact Youth Camp, a ministry of Sovereign Grace Chapel in Southbridge, MA — a summer camp dedicated to gospel-centered ministry.

John will be remembered as a man of faith, integrity, and love, whose life was marked by service—to his country, his community, his church, and most of all, his family.
