Jerome Edward Deise Jr, 78, of Millis
1947 - 2026

After earning his law degree, Jerry dedicated his life to public service. He began his career with the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore, where he rose to become Chief Attorney of the Capital Defense Division. He later joined the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Law, where he spent more than three decades teaching and mentoring future attorneys. His impact as an educator was widely recognized, earning him the Outstanding Teacher of the Year award, as well as the prestigious Jacobson Award for Excellence from the Roscoe Pound Institute in 2007.

Jerry was an active member of Saint Mary’s Church in Holliston, where he served as a CCD and Confirmation teacher and was involved with the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 14224.

In addition to his wife, Susan, Jerry is survived by his son, Erich Christopher Deise and his wife Alexis Gander Deise; his two cherished grandsons, Rainer Carl and Johann Alexander Deise; and his brother, Richard Edward Deise and his wife Carol of Forest Hill, Maryland.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston located at 708 Washington Street in Route 16. Donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Children’s Hospital at 450 Brookline Avenue in Boston.
