Jeanette P. (Twitchell) Maher, 97, of Hopedale
1929 - 2026

Born in Boston, Jeanette was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (McDermott) Twitchell. She attended public schools in Swampscott before graduating from Ursuline Academy. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Emmanuel College and later received her master's degree in educational administration from the former Boston State College.

Jeanette began her career as a teacher at Sacred Heart Academy before joining the Milford Public Schools, where she served as both an educator and administrator for many years. Her dedication to education and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on countless young people throughout her distinguished career.

She is survived by her six children: Patricia Moriarty and her husband, Daniel, of South Deerfield; Sheila Dworkin and her husband, Paul, of West Hartford, Connecticut; Kathleen Maher and Bernard McDaid of Johns Island, South Carolina; Moira Larson and her husband, Ronald, of Northbridge; Julie Stanas and her husband, Ronald, of Hopedale; and Ann Fahey and her husband, P. Michael, of Hopedale. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Bridget, Brendan, Molly, Eamon, Trevor, Erin, Lily, Dillon, and McKenzie; six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Hannah, Fiona, Kieran, Reis, and Greta; and three cherished nephews.

Jeanette was predeceased by her son, L. Timothy Maher, and her granddaughter, Frances Fahey.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a compassionate educator whose kindness, leadership, and dedication touched generations of students.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, August 8th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, located at 44 Congress Street in Milford.

A private burial will follow at Hopedale Cemetery.
