1942 - 2025
Born in Sutton, Massachusetts on October 16, 1942, James was the son of the late James S. and Blanche (Bessette) Gray. He was raised in Manchaug and spent many years living in Medway before relocating to Greenville, Maine, where he had lived for the past 15 years.
James was a dedicated and hardworking man who founded and operated Gray Excavation Company for many years, taking great pride in his work. He had a lifelong love of heavy equipment and often said that nothing brought him more satisfaction than operating his machinery.
A true outdoorsman, he always enjoyed the outdoors and being by the lake, spending his free time snowmobiling and boating. James also fondly recalled his younger days playing competitive softball, but above all else, his passion remained his work and the machines he loved to run.
In addition to his wife Susan, James is survived by his children: Julie Overstreet and her husband Mark of Medway; Brian Choate and his wife Blanca of Medway; Melissa Rezek and her husband Anmar of Mendon; and Tracey McLellan of Spencer. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy in his life.
James is also survived by his sister Carol Gray of Uxbridge and was the brother of the late Gary and Russell Gray.
