Gordon H. Randall, 100, of Upton
1925 - 2026

He was born in Natick, Massachusetts, on September 25, 1925, and was the son of the late Lewis Randall and Bessie (Murphy) Schofield. Gordon was raised and educated in Natick and was the youngest of his siblings.

Gordon proudly answered his country’s call, serving in the United States Navy during World War II, where he attained the rank of Seaman.

Throughout his working life, Gordon was known for his strong work ethic and practical skills. Prior to his retirement, Gordon worked for many years as a house painter. Earlier on, he was employed by Giovanni Hat Manufacturing, where he worked for 15 years.

Gordon was widely admired for his remarkable ability to fix, build, and create just about anything. He could rebuild engines, construct additions to homes, build furniture, and find new purposes for old materials. His creativity even led him to once transform a couch and chair into a chaise lounge. Often described as the original do-it-yourselfer, Gordon took great pride in hands-on work. He enjoyed time spent in the garden on the family farm and was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for westerns. He also loved card games, crossword puzzles, and later in life became an enthusiastic puzzle maker. As a young boy, Gordon spent several summers in Wyoming during his junior high years, an experience he remembered fondly.

He is survived by his children, Virginia Arnold of Brooksville, FL; Lois Randall of Middleburg, FL; Norma Randall of Dowelltown, TN; and Gordon Randall II of Hudson, FL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his sisters, Lois Stockman, Dorothy Chuimento, and Virginia Fairbanks, and his brothers, Norman Randall, who was killed in action while serving with the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, and Richard Randall.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
