Frederick George Gross, 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 4, 2025 at University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center following a heart attack.
Born in Medford, MA on January 9, 1952, he was the son of the late William and Adele (Ricca) Gross. Fred grew up in Ashland among a large and lively extended family before moving to Framingham at age 13. He had a joyful, sports-filled childhood. He attended Framingham High School, Arizona State University, and later earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Liberty University.
Fred built a long and successful career as a Financial Analyst. After retiring, he turned his focus to giving back—volunteering his time to read to young children and support causes like Meals on Wheels. He was always looking for ways to help others with his signature blend of kindness and humor A true sports enthusiast, Fred was an avid golfer, a skilled fisherman, and a fierce competitor in basketball. He even won a Hoop It Up tournament in his younger years and recently took up pickleball at the country club where he and his wife resided. He loved watching all the New England sports teams and took fantasy football very seriously. Fred had a presence that lit up a room. He was strong, funny, and endlessly entertaining. His unmistakable laugh was contagious and unforgettable. He had a way of making everyone feel at ease and had a special gift for making people laugh. Above all, he was a devoted family man. He adored his grandsons and was an undeniable softy around them—spending time with them brought him immeasurable joy. Fred’s life was full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia L. Gross; his daughter Nicole Adele Martucci and son-in-law Kurt James Martucci; and his cherished grandsons Kurt James Martucci II and Kayden Kane Martucci. He is also survived by his sister Joanie Mitchell (John) and brother William Gross,(Jill) along with many dear cousins and extended family. He was the brother of the late Scott and Kenneth Gross.
