1936 - 2026
From an early age, Florence carried a sincere love for God that guided her throughout her life. She was remembered as a faith-filled, selfless, and compassionate woman who approached others with humility, kindness, and a willingness to help wherever she was needed.
Florence pursued her education with the same dedication she brought to her faith. She attended Marymount College in Kansas before continuing her studies at the University of Arizona, where she earned a master’s degree in nursing. Her education prepared her for a lifetime devoted to healing and caring for others.
Before beginning her nursing career, Florence answered a calling to religious life and served as a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia, Kansas. Her years in religious life reflected her devotion to God and commitment to serving others, values that remained central to her throughout her life.
Florence later continued that mission through her work as a nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She brought both professional skill and a calm, comforting presence to those in her care. For Florence, nursing was more than a career—it was another expression of her lifelong calling to serve, heal, and provide comfort to others.
Throughout her life, Florence treasured the meaningful relationships she formed. She shared especially close friendships with Mary Jones and Andrea Jones, whose companionship and support brought happiness and strength to her life.
Florence also carried the memory of her late brother, Walter Pruett, close to her heart.
She will be remembered for the faith that sustained her, the compassion she extended to others, and a lifetime devoted to service and care.
