Born on April 12, 1936, in Milford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Blanche (Pooler) Drugan. A lifelong Milford resident, Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church.
Ellen spent her entire career with New England Telephone, later Verizon, and was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved traveling annually to Aruba and Las Vegas with her husband, Bob, and cherished time spent at her daughter’s lake house in New Hampshire. Ellen enjoyed walks, relaxing by the pool, tending to her yard, and expressing her creativity through crafts—always decorating her home beautifully for every season.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Knowlton, and her husband Robert of Milford; her sister, Mary Drugan of Medway; her brother, Joseph Drugan of Hopedale; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John, David, Matthew, and Francis Drugan Jr., and her sisters Margaret Beyer, Catherine Hackenson, and Linda Price.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 5 East Main Street, Milford. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Route 109, Milford.
Ellen’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lydia Taft House—especially Susan, Jenny, Rachel, and Rebecca—for their kindness and care.
