Elizabeth (Derby) MacGilvra, 93, of Franklin
1932 - 2025

Born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 20, 1932, Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert and Eleanor (Fletcher) Derby and grew up in Stow, where she lived for 90 years. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Roger Derby. A proud graduate of Hale High School and Boston University, she earned her B.A. in Education and went on to teach kindergarten in Stow during the 1960s.

Elizabeth’s strong work ethic and her genuine love for people shaped every chapter of her life. Even after her teaching career, she continued to work in food service until the age of 87. She loved cooking, collecting recipes, and was often seen enjoying long walks around town. Above all, Elizabeth treasured time spent with her family—her daughters, her granddaughters, and in recent years, the joy of her great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind her daughters, Holly Holzman and her husband David, and Lisa Davis and her husband Alan; her beloved granddaughters, Kirsten Pajka and her husband Seth, Elizabeth Montefusco and her husband Francesco, and Alexandra Holzman; and her great-grandchildren, William, Phoebe, and Gabriella.

Elizabeth’s services will be private. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
