Elitane spent most of her life in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where she was educated in local schools and built a meaningful career as a skilled stitcher for a baseball manufacturer, a role that highlighted her patience, precision, and pride in her work. Over a decade ago, she brought her vibrant culture and spirit to the United States, where she quickly became a source of warmth and inspiration to those around her.
Family stood at the heart of Elitane’s life. She is survived by her loving children: Jean Erick Belinette, Daniella Franklin of Milford, Rommel Belinette, Wesner Belinette, and Ivrose Gedeus. Her legacy continues through her 14 cherished grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who benefited from her nurturing presence, selfless love, and genuine joy in their successes. She was predeceased by her partner, Saintamand Moise.
Elitane was widely known as a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother, admired for her independence, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She delighted in spending time with loved ones, especially during evenings filled with laughter, good food, a little wine, and dancing. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her love of basketball and the Boston Celtics, whom she followed with unwavering loyalty.
A woman of profound faith, Elitane devoted herself to daily prayer, drawing strength, comfort, and guidance from her spiritual life. Her faith shaped the way she lived and cared for others, and many sought her wisdom and encouragement.
Elitane Belinette lived a life defined by love, selflessness, and unwavering faith. Her memory will continue to shine through the lives she touched, and her laughter, wisdom, and spirit will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. Though her earthly journey has ended, the impact of her life will endure for generations.
Visiting hours will be Friday, January 9, 2026 from 5 – 8 PM in the Buma – Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 17 Winter Street, Milford. A funeral procession will be leaving from the funeral home at 9:30 prior to the Mass.
