Donald F. Mirabito, 70, of Grafton
1956 - 2026

Born in Natick, Massachusetts, Don was the eldest son of Francis Mirabito and Frances Campbell. He was raised in Northborough, where he attended local schools before graduating from Clark University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Don began his professional career as a senior software engineering manager, working for several high-tech companies including Data General, Digital Equipment Corporation, and EMC Corporation. During his time in the technology field, he contributed to the development of innovative advancements, including early work that would evolve into video-on-demand technology.

Later in life, Don pursued his passion for craftsmanship by founding his own construction and remodeling business, The Humble Cottage. He was highly regarded for his design expertise, precision, and attention to detail. Always eager to expand his knowledge, he both attended and taught classes related to the building trades. Even after retiring in 2024, Don continued to mentor others, remaining a strong advocate for preserving and promoting skilled trades.

Don is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon (Matos); his son Christopher; and his son Timothy and his wife Maryam Khan. He also leaves his mother, Fran; his sister Donna McCann and her husband Patrick; his brother Thomas and his wife Michelle; his sister Jeannine Barrett; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

An avid outdoorsman, Don found joy in boating, fishing, hunting, and hiking. He was a lifetime member of the Nashoba Sportsman’s Club in Acton, where he participated in trap shooting leagues and earned multiple awards for his marksmanship. He also enjoyed woodworking, reading, following sports, discussing politics, and spending time in his Grafton neighborhood. His favorite places were the mountains, the woods, and anywhere near the water. He loved traveling throughout New England and was always seeking his next adventure.

Don will be remembered for his outgoing personality, generous spirit, and willingness to help others. His easygoing nature and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford.
