Born in Milford, Daniel was the son of Regina M. (Byrne) Del Vecchio of Milford and the late Lawrence L. Del Vecchio. He attended Milford Public Schools and graduated from Milford High School with the Class of 1980 before earning his bachelor’s degree from Bentley College in 1984.
Daniel began his professional career with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York, where he worked from 1984 to 1989. He later worked as a consultant with Business Land Inc. before beginning a distinguished 35-year career as a systems engineer with Apple, serving from 1991 until 2026 in the company’s Boston offices.
A self-described naturalist, Daniel found peace and happiness outdoors. He loved spending time in nature, woodworking, playing card games, and in recent years became an avid cyclist. Earlier in life, he was a passionate basketball player, competing in men’s leagues well into his forties.
In addition to his wife Meredith and his mother Regina, Daniel is survived by his children: Robert L. DelVecchio of Worcester; Jennie M. Scarborough and her husband Charles “Trey” Scarborough III of Midland, Virginia; Miranda R. Peer and her husband Tyler Peer of Denver, North Carolina; Sophie E. Rubin of Grafton; and Joshua J. Rubin of Bolton.
He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Madelyn M. Peer of Denver, North Carolina.
Daniel is further survived by his siblings: Dr. David M. Del Vecchio and his wife Wendy of Chesapeake, Virginia; Stephen L. Del Vecchio and his wife Marcia of Dennis; Mary Ellen Zarba of Derry, New Hampshire; Gregory M. Del Vecchio and his wife Sarah of Ojai, California; and Peter A. Beale-Del Vecchio and his wife Jacqueline Beale of Chicago, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Heidi L. Startz, who passed away in 2024.
Daniel will be remembered for his intelligence, love of nature, devotion to his family, and the quiet determination and courage he demonstrated throughout his life.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford.
His funeral will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place.
