Cheryl Soucy, 77, of Hopkinton
1948 - 2026

She was the daughter of the late Norman and Catherine (Welch) Cote and the loving wife of 49 years to Roger Soucy of Hopkinton. Cheryl’s roots were in Pawtucket, RI, where she grew up and later graduated from Rhode Island College. From an early age, relationships mattered deeply to her—she was lucky to meet a group of friends in kindergarten who became lifelong confidants, a circle that expanded through college and remained strong throughout her life.

She and Roger met while she was working at a veterinary hospital in Woonsocket, RI, beginning a partnership that would span decades. They later married in 1976 and soon settled into what would become their cherished home—they moved into their forever home in Hopkinton in 1978.

Cheryl was deeply connected to her community. She worked for almost 30 years at a family doctor’s office in town and later at Milford Hospital. Even after retiring, her commitment to helping others never faded. After retiring, she devoted much of her time volunteering at the Hopkinton Senior Center and the local charity Project Just Because. To those who knew her best, she was known fondly to family and friends as a music lover, an avid dancer, a historian, and for her love of animals, particularly dogs, chimpanzees, and sloths.

In addition to her husband, Cheryl is survived by her two sons, Matthew Soucy and his wife, Lauren, of Hingham, and Mark Soucy of Gilbert, Arizona. She was a devoted grandmother and had four grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was so proud of – Ayla, Camden, Ryan, and Bennett. She also leaves behind her brother, Norman Cote, and his wife, Joyce, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and her sister-in-law, Leslie Cote, along with many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, from Denver to Boston. She was predeceased by her brother Richard “Rick” Cote.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A burial will follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Just Because. A Mass in Cheryl’s name will be said on May 31st at St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hopkinton, MA.
