1970 - 2026
Born on March 31, 1970, Chuck graduated from Milford High School in 1988 before earning his business degree from Providence College in 1994. In recognition of his humanitarian work, he later received an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Providence College in 1999.
Swimming was one of Chuck’s lifelong passions. A standout NCAA Division I swimmer at Providence College, he earned the admiration of teammates and coaches through his determination and competitive spirit. His love for the sport continued long after college as he became a swim coach, inspiring countless young athletes to believe in themselves both in and out of the water.
Chuck also embraced many creative pursuits. During his time on Martha’s Vineyard, he worked as a pastry chef at the Edgartown Yacht Club while also performing as a musician at local venues. Whether preparing pastries or performing on stage, his creativity and attention to detail were evident in everything he did.
Music remained at the heart of Chuck’s life. A gifted pianist, accomplished saxophonist, and talented vocalist, he performed with several local bands and shared his passion freely with family, friends, and fellow musicians. His home became a welcoming gathering place where musicians of all skill levels came together for impromptu jam sessions filled with laughter, creativity, and friendship.
Above all else, Chuck treasured the people in his life. Family and friends were his greatest source of happiness. He enjoyed simple traditions, from lunches with his father, Denis, and sharing Formula One races together, to cheering on the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Red Sox alongside close friends. Sunday morning breakfasts and time spent with loved ones were among his favorite moments.
Chuck was especially devoted to his nephews, Ryan and Sean Donovan, whose accomplishments brought him immense pride. He also shared an extraordinary bond with his sister, Christine Donovan, who was not only his longtime caregiver but also his closest friend. Chuck often said that Christine was his favorite person.
Dedicated to helping others, Chuck generously volunteered with the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Massachusetts, where he served as Board President. His compassion, leadership, generosity, intelligence, humor, and adventurous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Chuck was predeceased by his mother, Susan Hince; his uncles Art Niosi and Frank Ballasone; his aunt Josephine Niosi; and his cousins Tony Niosi and Mark Ballasone.
He is survived by his father, Denis Hince, and his wife Karen; his sister Christine Donovan and her husband John; his beloved nephews Ryan and Sean Donovan; his cousin Jill Walker and her family; and countless extended family members, friends, teammates, former students, fellow musicians, and all whose lives he enriched through his friendship.
Chuck will be remembered not simply for his accomplishments, but for his remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed, encouraged, and loved. His music, laughter, generosity, and friendship will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 1st from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home located at 42 Congress Street in Milford.
