Born in Firvidas, Portugal, Celso was the son of Emílio Caldas and the late Custódia Dias. He was the beloved husband of Ana Caldas and the devoted father of Sandra Caldas Silva and her husband, Alcides Silva, of Blackstone, and Daniel Caldas and his partner, Genina Caldas, of Blackstone.
Celso was a proud and loving grandfather to Ana Carolina Caldas Silva, André Emílio Caldas Silva, Giullianna Marie Capati Caldas, and step-grandson Gabriel B. Silva. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Maria DeMoura of Blackstone, and was predeceased by his father-in-law, João DeMoura of Firvidas, Portugal.
He also leaves behind his siblings and their families, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends throughout the United States and Portugal.
Celso was a devoted family man and loyal friend who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially sharing a good meal with those he loved. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Portugal remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, located at 46 Water Street in Milford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 24th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter Street in Milford.
Following the services, Celso will make his final journey home to Portugal, where he will be laid to rest at Cemitério de Firvidas in Montalegre, Portugal. Additional information regarding services and burial arrangements in Portugal will be announced as it becomes available.
