Mrs. Carole Jean (Merriam) Napoli, 71, of Milford MA died Monday evening (October 28, 2024) at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Napoli.
Carole was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late Charles A. Merriam and the late Florence A. (Marino) Merriam. She grew up in Brighton MA and was a graduate of Our Lady of the Presentation Academy in Brighton MA, Class of 1972.
Carole was first employed as a young woman working in the health care industry. She had started working as a “candy striper” at a local nursing home, eventually volunteering as the activities director. She later worked as a secretary at a day care center and for other various companies in the Boston area.
Following that she began her most important job, being a devoted housewife & mother to her beloved children. She relished the idea of helping to raise her family and was known to describe her life as a devoted mother & housewife as that of being a “ domestic engineer”, making sure that all of the details of her family’s life were taken care of.
Carole moved to Milford MA from Watertown MA in 1982. From 1983 to 1985 she resided in Milan Italy with her husband Joseph due to his employment responsibilities. She and Joseph returned to Milford MA in 1985 and have resided here ever since.
With her children grown up, Carole loved to travel with her husband Joseph to Europe and other locations, especially to Italy & Aruba. She loved being by the ocean, collecting sea shells & sea glass. She loved the arts, especially attending the theatre, and also participated with her children in the Milford Theatre Guild. Carole also took great pride in her home and loved gardening and meticulously tending to her yard.
Along with her beloved husband of 46 years, she is survived by her 2 children: Nicole Weiss and her husband Nicholas Weiss of Framingham MA and Dominic Napoli and his wife Rebekah Napoli of Hopedale MA; her 3 grandchildren: Oliver Weiss, Emmett Weiss and Joseph Napoli; her sister: Judith Ward and her husband Alan Ward of Framingham MA; her brother: Charles Merriam and his wife Gail Merriam of Framingham MA; her sister-in-law: Matilde Condorelli of Italy; her brother-in-law: Vincenzo Napoli and his wife Valentina Napoli of Italy; her nieces & nephews: Jennifer Curran and her husband Matthew Curran of Carlsbad CA, Kimberley Ward of Natick MA, Andrew Merriam and his wife Lauren Merriam of Canton MA, Marissa Kublin and her husband Craig Kublin of Natick MA, Carmen Condorelli of Italy, Antonino Condorelli of Italy, Angelica Napoli of Italy, Domenico Napoli of Italy and Leonardo Napoli of Italy; also several grandnieces & grandnephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday (November 5th) at 11am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow and a private committal service will be held in Hopedale Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Monday (November 4th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
