Carmela was educated in the Norwood Public Schools and went on to graduate from Boston University with a degree in Journalism. She began her career as a member of the press at the Norwood Messenger. A woman of curiosity and adventure, Carmela had a deep love for travel and embraced opportunities to explore new places, including Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Notably, she was in Juneau, Alaska, in 1959 when it officially became the 49th state of the United States.
Carmela found great joy in reading and movies and maintained a lifelong interest in the Kennedy family. She devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother during her children’s early years, later embarking on a long and dedicated career of more than 20 years with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority in Southborough before her retirement.
Above all, Carmela cherished her family. She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother who took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments.
She is survived by her three sons: David Bonaceto of Lynn, Joseph Bonaceto and his wife Kara of Wrentham, and Anthony Bonaceto and his wife Randi of Cumberland, Rhode Island. She also leaves behind her four beloved grandchildren, Brianna, Chris, Ashlyn, and Emersyn, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, John Poce and Carolyn Comerford.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Holliston. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home.
