1939 - 2026
Bruce’s life was deeply shaped by his faith. Bruce lived a life rooted in his Christian faith, drawing strength, comfort, and purpose from his relationship with the Lord. He was devoted to his family and leaves behind his wife Diane and six children: Brett & Beth Allen, Bonnie & Mike Riley, Eric & Susan Allen, Todd & Lori Allen, Craig & Susan Allen, and Brenda & Jeff Hitchcock. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as stepchildren Bill & Susan Curboy, 4 more grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who all called him Grampy.
Time spent with family was among Bruce’s greatest joys. Many memories were made with Grampy and his grandchildren at the lake, jumping off the dock, boat rides, and trips to pirate island. Those moments of laughter, adventure, and togetherness were treasured by all who shared them. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Percy & Marjorie Allen, step-son Chris Curboy, and daughter-in-law Sandy Curboy.
Faith guided Bruce throughout his life. He was actively involved in many churches over the years and was most recently attending service at Grace Christian Fellowship in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He played in worship bands, participated in men’s groups, served as a Gideon member, and led nursing home ministries, always seeking to encourage and uplift others. Bruce’s family came to the United States in 1952 and became naturalized citizens, a milestone he held with pride.
Bruce graduated from Rindge Technical High School where he found his gift and love for the drums, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He later earned a degree from Curry College. Over the years, Bruce worked for Zayre Corporation, United Life Insurance, and spent many years in the land development and construction business. In retirement, his desire to serve others continued as he drove adults with disabilities to and from day programs. In between drop off and pick up you could often find him at Peg’s Diner making connections in the community, something he truly enjoyed.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nursing and aid staff at Notre Dame Hospice. Their compassion, guidance, and care made it possible for Bruce to remain comfortable at home, and he formed meaningful bonds with many of them, always looking forward to their visits.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial gift be made to ministries Bruce held dear: Walking in Light Ministry at PO Box 906, Douglas MA 01561 and Grace Christian Fellowship.
A Memorial service will be held at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 298 Blackstone Street, Woonsocket, RI, on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
Burial will be held at a later date.
