December 17, 1933 - October 12, 2025
Born in Boston, Barbara was the daughter of the late Melvin and Florence (Sherman) Lewis. She was a devoted sister to her two late brothers, Melvin Lewis of East Falmouth and Gordon Lewis of Newton, and her three late sisters, Laura Sabilia of Holbrook, Elizabeth LaPorte of Milford, and Florence Capostagno of Weymouth. She is survived by her brother, Charles Lewis of Wareham.
Barbara attended Brighton High School and went on to earn both her Massachusetts real estate broker’s license and a license in cosmetology from Kenneth Hair Design. She worked as a hairdresser for many years, earning a reputation for her skill, creativity, and warmth with clients.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara’s life revolved around her family. She and John raised five children together, and she cherished every moment spent with them, their spouses, and her grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was Christmas Eve, when family gathered to celebrate, laugh, and make memories together.
Barbara enjoyed cooking, sewing, and hosting family gatherings. She also shared with John a love for real estate and home improvement—planning, designing, and completing projects together. Her retirement years were filled with joy, hosting cookouts at their beloved Cape Cod waterfront home and welcoming family and friends. Barbara and John also enjoyed winters in Myrtle Beach, where they spent time on the golf course and in the company of good friends.
She is survived by her children, Janice Lussier and her husband Ron, James Griffin, John Griffin and his wife Dee, Judith Rosati and her husband Bill, and Joy Cowen and her husband Jim. Barbara also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
Barbara will be remembered for her grace, her love of family, and the joy she brought to every gathering. Her warmth, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
