1933 - 2026
Barbara was born in Milford Hospital on August 26, 1933, the daughter of L. Gene DiVittorio and Eva (Parmenter) DiVittorio. She was a graduate of Milford High School (Class of 1951) and later graduated from the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston.
While working as a dental hygienist, Barbara met a young medical student who came in for an appointment. The connection was immediate, and after marrying in 1956, she lived for a year in Bologna, Italy, while her husband completed medical school. During that time, she embraced the culture, enjoyed wandering through small shops, and learned to cook several dishes of northern Italian cuisine. Her bolognese lasagna became legendary among family and friends.
Returning home, Barbara dedicated herself fully to her family, working tirelessly raising five children and running the household. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce and was employed as a dental hygienist at the offices of Dr. Carl DiGregorio and Dr. David Goodman for many years. She later embarked on a second career, where her love of people and houses led to great success for over 30 years as a realtor in the Milford area.
Barbara was an active member of the Milford Citizen Group and took great pride in her work to prevent the construction of a casino and to support many positive improvements for Milford. She found joy in many hobbies — bowling, knitting, and gardening — but nothing meant more to her than time spent with family. Her greatest joy was basking in the warmth of family gatherings, especially Sunday dinners with as many children and grandchildren as could attend.
She is survived by four children: Peter M. Morganelli and his wife Karen of Gorham, Maine; Paul L. Morganelli and his wife Brett of Upton; Mark J. Morganelli and his wife Julia of Milford; and Carla Mullen and her husband John of Mashpee; as well as her daughter-in-law Janet Morganelli of Milford, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son David in 2014.
