1927 - 2025
A proud veteran, Arthur served four years in the Merchant Marines and four years in the Air Force. After completing his military service, he achieved what many would consider an extraordinary feat—Arthur completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 1959 at U Mass Amherst while caring for 4 children and working full time. He went on to build a successful career as an electrical engineer in the computer field, bringing dedication, curiosity, and skill to every role he held.
Arthur lived a life shaped by devotion to family above all else. Arthur always put his family first, they were number one in his heart. He embraced every opportunity to spend time with those he loved, including on the golf course. Remarkably, he was an avid golfer and played his last round of golf with his 3 sons at the age of 97.
Faith was another defining pillar of Arthur’s life. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Holliston. He volunteered his time to assist with building and property maintenance. A natural do-it-yourselfer, he was a committed do-it-yourselfer, taking on any task that needed to be done, always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
Arthur leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by six children, Diane Kaczynski and her husband, Frank; Susan Dally and her wife, Ellen; Richard Douglass and his wife, Cindy; Christopher Douglass and his wife, Maria; Dana Douglass and his wife, Vicki; and Darcy Specht and her husband, Warren. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 14th at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Holliston, 40 High St. Interment will take place at a later date at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org.
Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
