WESTBOROUGH – Westborough Town Meeting will reportedly get to weigh in on what should be done with some vacant office space in town. The owner of a two-thirds-empty 283,000-square-foot office building with a nearly equally empty parking lot on Research Drive has asked for a zoning change to allow a mixed-use development.
According to The Community Advocate, the proposed zoning change would permit residential, commercial, and other uses at the site, which the developer told the Planning Board have already been allowed in other areas of Westborough.
If approved, the change would open the door to reimagining the largely vacant property and could significantly alter how the site is used moving forward. Ultimately, Town Meeting will have the final say on whether the zoning change moves ahead.
