WESTBOROUGH – The Westborough School Committee is continuing its work to establish new graduation requirements now that MCAS scores are no longer part of the process.
The new “Competency Determination” system will begin with the Class of 2026 and must be finalized by December.
According to the Community Advocate, the committee and school administrators discussed several options at a recent meeting, including demonstrating mastery of common core skills through tests, capstone projects, or portfolio work.
The proposed subjects for competency include English, science, U.S. history, and math, with an emphasis on algebra and geometry.
