WESTBOROUGH – Police Chief Todd Minardi says the town should explore options to acquire a mobile Command Post Vehicle to strengthen the department’s emergency response capabilities.
Minardi says the specialized vehicles provide a centralized hub for command and communication, which is crucial during incidents such as missing person searches, school safety situations, and other complex emergencies. A mobile command center, he noted, can significantly speed up communication between search teams, drone operators, dispatchers, and other responders.
According to the Community Advocate, the vehicles cost roughly $475,000, but Minardi is hopeful the town can secure grant funding, including potential assistance from the Department of Homeland Security, to make the purchase possible.
