Changes could be coming to how Westborough citizens get a petition before Annual Town Meeting. The Select Board is reportedly considering raising the minimum number of signatures to more than 10. The Community Advocate reports it’s been on their minds since the March 2024 Town Meeting, where there were several petitions that had to be discussed but failed overwhelmingly. The Town Moderator said at the last Select Board Meeting some have suggested a minimum of 50 or even 100 signatures. A public meeting about it will be held September 17. The change would have to go to Town Meeting.
