WESTBOROUGH — Work is continuing on the design phase of planned improvements to the East Main Street corridor in Westborough. While the state is expected to cover most of the construction costs to upgrade sidewalks along Route 30, the actual construction is not anticipated until 2030.

According to the Community Advocate, the Town is funding the design work and has been collaborating with consultants to establish project goals. In addition to installing new and wider sidewalks, planners are also evaluating potential new pedestrian crossing locations, including near the Post Office, McDonald’s, Windsor Ridge Drive, and the BWALT trail.

Town officials say the ongoing design process will help ensure the project improves safety and accessibility along the busy corridor when construction eventually moves forward.
