West Nile Virus Detected in Milford Mosquitoes; First Human Case of Season Reported in Middlesex County

West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected in Milford. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced Wednesday that the virus turned up in routine trapping and testing in Milford. But also Wednesday MassDPH announced the first human case of West Nile of the season in a woman in her 70’s in Middlesex County. They remind everyone but especially those over 50 to use insect repellent, avoid being outside during dusk and dawn and install window screens.
