With ice rescues happening across the state, Uxbridge firefighters are reminding you that if you like to do activities out on frozen ponds and lakes, there is no ice that is 100% percent safe. They say it is impossible to judge ice conditions by appearance or thickness alone and many factors, including water depth, the size of the body of water, water chemistry, currents, snow cover, and more, will impact ice strength. Uxbridge Police have shared a chart on their social media with recommended thickness for uses.
