UPTON – Upton’s Pratt Pond is closed due to an apparent algae bloom. On Friday Upton Recreational Director Maria Tonry spotted algae on the surface water and the Board of Health contacted the MA Department of Public Health for guidance. Agents from the Environmental Toxicology Program said it looks like cyanoHAB, also known as an algae bloom, which is considered to be unsafe for humans and pets and they recommended closing all access points to Pratt Pond until the bloom dissipates.
