Yet another delay for the start of the trial of a former Hopkinton Deputy Police Chief accused of sexual contact with a student back when he was a School Resource Officer. John Porter, known as Jay, is charged with rape of a child for the alleged incidents from 2004 and 2005. He has pleaded not guilty. The trial was set to begin this week after being postponed multiple times over the past year. The Hopkinton Independent reports it will now begin Monday June 2. Among the judge’s reasons: media attention and personal discussions could influence potential jurors over the Memorial Day weekend.
