HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton Water and Sewer Department has launched a town-wide effort to track down leaks in the municipal water system. Contractor Water and Waste Pipe Testing Incorporated began a comprehensive leakage survey, and the project is expected to continue through the end of December.

Officials say the work involves the use of specialized leak-detection equipment, with crews listening for potential leaks on hydrants, gate valves, and sections of water mains throughout town. The Town emphasizes that no digging is part of this survey, and that any excavation needed in the future will be performed only by the Hopkinton Water Department.

Residents may notice crews working in various areas, but disruptions are expected to be minimal.
