BELLINGHAM – Three people are being treated for exposure to freezing temperatures after walking away from the scene of a crash early New Year’s morning. Bellingham police and emergency responders came upon an SUV that had slammed into a utility pole on South Main Street around 3 a.m., but no one was at the scene.
Police noticed several sets of footprints leading into the nearby woods and called in assistance from multiple departments, including the Wrentham K-9 team, to search the snowy area. After about two hours, officers located two people in the woods, while a third individual had apparently been picked up by someone else.
