MILFORD – A 16-year-old from out of town is suspected in a swatting hoax that forced Milford High School into lockdown Monday morning. Police were called around 10 a.m. after receiving a report that a student had a gun, prompting a rapid response from local officers and the Massachusetts State Police.

Authorities conducted a full sweep of the building, and after approximately 45 minutes, determined the report was a hoax.
Milford Schools Superintendent Craig Consigli says the teen believed to be responsible has been detained in Tennessee and is now in custody.

Milford Police are working closely with the FBI and law enforcement in Tennessee. Officials say the suspect reportedly has a history of connections to swatting hoaxes, though no additional details have been released.

No injuries were reported, and classes resumed after the all-clear.
