HOPKINTON – Police say a man from Pennsylvania has been arrested following an investigation into attempted bank fraud involving two local communities.

In Hopkinton, officers were called on Wednesday to a bank on Main Street after employees reported that a man was attempting to withdraw several thousand dollars while posing as someone else. While officers were speaking with him, police learned of a nearly identical situation that had occurred shortly before at the same bank’s branch in Southborough.

Investigators determined the same fake identification had been used in both cases. The suspect was taken into custody and is facing several charges, including forgery, identity theft, witness intimidation, and being a fugitive due to an outstanding warrant.
