HOPKINTON – Hopkinton officials are urging residents to attend tomorrow night’s Special Town Meeting, where at least 131 voters are needed to reach quorum and take action on lowering the town’s 2026 budget. The meeting was called after officials determined the previously approved budget was higher than necessary, and adjustments must be made before next year’s tax rate is finalized.

If the quorum is not met and the budget cannot be reduced, the Town Manager warns that the higher tax rate will automatically be set, resulting in residents and businesses being overtaxed. The reminder was included in her weekly update last week, emphasizing the importance of voter turnout to ensure the correct tax rate is established.
