SOUTHBOROUGH – Town officials are warning residents about an active email scam involving fraudulent requests for permit payments.
Scammers are sending emails claiming that municipal permits have been approved and directing recipients to submit payment through wire transfers or unofficial online payment links.
The Town stresses that these emails are not legitimate, even though they may contain publicly available permit information. Officials remind residents that authentic town emails will always come from addresses ending in @southboroughma.gov, and all permit payments are made either through the official Town website or in person at Town Hall.
