Hundreds of new affordable homes will be needed in Southborough to keep up with needs, this according to a new plan from the Southborough Select Board and Planning Board. The Community Advocate reports at a joint meeting last week the boards passed a plan to add 255 affordable homes over the next five years to make buying more accessible for residents. According to the Affordable Housing Trust the current cost of a typical home in Southborough is around $922,000 but the town’s median income is around $710,000. The housing plan must be approved by Town Meeting.
