MASSACHUSETTS — A longtime New England favorite may see changes soon, as Newell Brands announced it will close 20 Yankee Candle stores across North America next month — though it’s not yet known whether any Massachusetts locations will be affected. The company says the closures are part of an effort to “streamline” operations and better align with “modern consumer shopping behaviors.”
Yankee Candle, founded in 1969 and purchased by Jarden in 2013 for $1.75 billion, became part of Newell Brands in 2016. Along with the store closures, Newell says it plans to cut about 900 jobs across all of its brands, but has not specified where those reductions will occur.
