FRANKLIN – Crews from Franklin have reopened Route 140 between Franklin and Bellingham after completing repairs on a major water main break.

The rupture, discovered Tuesday near Garelick Farms, was described by Franklin Public Works as the deepest they’ve seen in more than 20 years—located over 16 feet underground beneath a concrete culvert.

Due to the complexity of the repair, a private contractor was brought in to help stabilize the excavation site. Officials say the road has now been repaved and water service has been fully restored.
