UXBRIDGE – A group of Uxbridge residents is continuing to call for the resignation of Select Board Chair Brian Butler after he shared a social media post that included AI-generated images of Democratic politicians depicted as jungle animals, including Barack and Michelle Obama portrayed as apes.

On Sunday, about 50 protesters gathered at the Town Common demanding Butler step down. It was the latest in a series of demonstrations held over the past week.

Butler has since apologized, saying he “probably should have thought longer” before reposting what he described as political satire, and claimed he did not realize the images would be interpreted as racist.

Despite the apology, community members continue to press for accountability and Butler’s resignation.
