GRAFTON – Grafton Police are warning residents selling recreational vehicles online to be cautious of hidden data in photos. Authorities say thieves are using location data embedded in smartphone images posted on sites like Facebook Marketplace to track sellers and steal items.
Police advise residents to use software to “hide or strip that data” before posting photos and to avoid including visible clues such as addresses or recognizable landmarks that could reveal their location.
