HOPKINTON – Plans are beginning to take shape for the future of Hopkinton’s Center School building. After winning the bid last spring to repurpose the property, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts is now working with architects on a vision that preserves history while meeting modern needs.
According to the Hopkinton Independent, the town’s Permanent Building Committee received an update this week outlining early design concepts. Architects told the committee that while some portions of the structure will need to be torn down, the historic front of the building will be preserved. They are also evaluating ways to retain the school’s original windows while still achieving improved energy efficiency.
When complete, the renovated building will be home not only to the Hopkinton Center for the Arts but also to Parks & Recreation and Youth & Family Services, making it a multi-use hub for the community.
