Parole has been granted for a man convicted of killing a Milford police officer in 1980. Sgt. Walter “Moose” Conley was shot and killed in the line of duty when two men tried to rob the Milford Savings Bank. The two men, Patrick O’Shea and John Currie, both got sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. But on Tuesday the state Parole Board granted parole to O’ Shea, calling it compassionate release due to a medical condition. The Milford Police Department and Milford Police Association have released a statement condemning what they call the “unfathomable decision.”
