WESTBOROUGH – Westborough Deputy Chief Todd Minardi has been tapped as interim police chief while the Select Board decides how to replace Jeffrey Lourie who is now the chief of Falmouth police. The Daily News reports some Select Board members want Minardi to have the job permanently as a message to younger officers that there is growth potential. Other Select Board members want to do an external search calling it a “disservice” to the town to not expand the net. They plan to revisit the issue in a future meeting. Minardi, who has been with the Westborough Police Department for nearly 30 years has been deputy chief since 2018.
