National Grid is getting a $50 million federal grant to move their grid toward more use of clean energy. They say the grant from the U.S. Department of Energy will go toward an overall $140 million plan called the Future Grid Project which was chosen from among more than 100 proposals submitted by other utilities from across the country. National Grid is paying the other $90 million. Officials say in addition to moving away from carbon energy sources, the grid upgrade will make it more reliable and resilient.
