MILFORD – The Milford Special Town Meeting is this Monday, February 9, with residents set to vote on a single article that could have long-term implications for the town’s public safety infrastructure.

There is just one article on the warrant, asking whether the Town should use eminent domain to take a property on Park Terrace behind the police station. Town officials say the home has been on the market for about seven months, and the Town has unsuccessfully attempted to purchase it through traditional means.

According to the Select Board, the Town wants the land in order to expand the Milford Police Station. Officials have emphasized that using eminent domain would force the sale of the property, but the owner would still be compensated at a “fair market value” price, as required by law.

The Special Town Meeting will be held at Town Hall, and all registered Milford voters are eligible to attend and vote.
