The Milford Police Department has updated its Use of Force policy to come into compliance with state policy. The Daily News reports the Select Board unanimously approved the changes submitted by acting Police Chief James Falvey.
It states that lethal force may only be used when an officer reasonably believes it’s in defense of any life or serious bodily injury or when de-escalation techniques have failed. It also requires more post-incident reporting of use of lethal force whether it’s with or without weapons.
